FACT connects patients to the support they need during cancer.
FACT provides a wide range of support to cancer patients and their families across Tenerife. Our services are tailored to each individual’s circumstances, and needs are assessed thoughtfully before support is allocated. No two situations are the same; our role is to listen, understand and act.
What Our Support Includes
We provide practical, emotional and social support to those affected by cancer, ensuring no one faces the journey alone
-
Navigating treatment often requires multiple visits to hospitals and clinics, frequently located on the opposite side of the island. FACT coordinates volunteer drivers or arranges public transport so that patients can attend treatments, scans and consultations safely and comfortably — without the anxiety of navigating the journey alone.
-
For many, language is a significant barrier. Understanding medical terminology, test results, consent forms or treatment plans can be daunting even in one’s native language. FACT provides translators who accompany patients to appointments, ensuring they fully understand their treatment and can ask questions with clarity and confidence.
-
FACT can provide equipment such as wheelchairs, hoists, hospital-style beds and other items which enable patients to be cared for safely and with dignity in their own homes.
-
Cancer affects the mind as much as the body. Volunteers often provide companionship before or after appointments, listen during difficult days and celebrate progress during better ones. While not therapists, our volunteers bring warmth and humanity when they are needed most. Professional support can be supplied through FACT Ancillary Services
Our Process
Reach Out
Everything begins with a simple call or message. Patients, relatives or friends can contact us directly — no complicated steps or formalities. At this stage, we focus on listening.
Understand
We take time to understand the situation: treatment plans, challenges at home, mobility, language barriers and emotional wellbeing. This allows us to identify what will make the biggest difference day-to-day.
Take Action
We then put support in place. This may include transport, translation, equipment or home assistance delivered through our volunteers and support networks. The goal is to ease practical burdens quickly and with dignity.
Walk Beside You
Support doesn’t stop after the first appointment. We stay in touch, adapt as needs change and provide reassurance throughout the journey — whether for weeks, months or longer.
